What's Happening At The Quilted Otter?  

On display will be six beautiful  Batik Quilts.  Come on by and see the display. We will also have all six quilts available in kits - If you'd like to make one of these for your own - now is the time.  During Trunk Show Day these kits will be 10% off. Here are the quilts - although seeing them on paper does not do them justice!



Both "Stargazer" and "Preppy The Whale" are made with fabric with a newer term "Batik Solids" although questionable as a batik in some opinions these fabrics are also hand dyed in Bali and undergo a very similar process as traditional batiks.  These two kits are also available as "brights" a lower price point kit that only contains the bright focus fabrics and you add your own background, borders, and binding.  All other kits are traditional kits including everything you need for the quilt top but not the batting or the backing. 

Classes, Clubs, Retreats, Camps, Workshops... 

Lots of events going on this winter to get back into quilting or find new inspiration.  Here are a few to highlight: (Click on the Event name for more info or to sign up)  

Accuquilt Club meets the third Friday of the month - Feb. 20th is the next meeting which will focus on "BOBs" which are Blocks on Board - meaning all the pieces of the block are on one board.  If you have an accuquilt or are thinking about purchasing one - this is an event you will want to attend.  

Quilted Jacket Retreat:  April 5-7, 2026.  Three spots remaining - sign up asap. This is a three day workshop making a quilted jacket using a crewneck sweatshirt as a base.  Katie and Sue will be teaching this class - come join us for three days of fun! Lunch Included!

"Mom and Me" May 9, 2026.  Grab your mom ( or mother's bring your child(ren)) and come spend the day quilting with us. You have a choice of quilts to choose from and you will also receive lunch, a commemorative photo, a special gift bag, snacks, and the pattern for the quilt.  Come join us! Moms and their child(ren) of all ages are welcome!

Upcoming Events and soon to be on the schedule:  Look for a "Learn To Quilt Camp"  and "Sewing Camp" for this summer for kids ages ~9-15, Potluck Quilting, and more.

Last Few Things:  

Don't forget we are an Accuquilt Dealer - determined to give you a good price on all Accuquilt Products.  We will beat the Accuquilt.com price by 10% for any Accuquilt product.  We can also ship to you for no charge on any orders over $100.  If you are unsure if this product is right for you then try one of our Accquilt Club meetings or signup to use our equipment for an hour or two ( first hour free, and always free when using fabric purchased from The Quilted Otter - or $10/half hour for using fabrics from home)

Social Media: To increase our presence on social media in the next month we are running a weekly drawing for the next few weeks. SignUp to be a follower on Instagram (@thequiltedotter) or Facebook (TheQuiltedOtter) and be entered into a drawing for $50 gift card. The first drawing will be held on Wednesday, February 18th @ 5:00PM.  Second Drawing will be held on Wednesday February 25th @ 5:00PM - the second drawing is for everyone that has either commented on a post or tagged us (@thequiltedotter) in a post.  Double entry (your name goes in twice to double your odds) if a photo or video we are tagged in includes items purchased from The Quilted Otter.   

Local Quilt Shop Contest:  Please consider voting for us in the Local Quilt Shop Contest. We are currently in 2nd Place for California!!  The other shops that are in the running are much more established stores - so it would be fabulous to get your support so that we can win this thing!  It would be cool to get the prizes and have them in the store.  Please vote for us!  Just click on the link or the image below :  Local Quilt Shop Contest. 


If any of you happen to be going up to the Pajaro Valley Quilt Show (Santa Cruz Fairgrounds) on Feb. 21st (10-5) and 22nd (10-4) be sure to check out our booth.  This is the first time we have traveled to a Quilt Show so we are crossing our fingers it goes well.  Just pursuing another economic avenue to keep our shop strong... so we can buy more fabric - of course!
