"Mom & Me!" Quilting Together

Come on out and celebrate Mother's Day a day early with our "Mom & Me" Quilting Together Program.  Moms and their daughters (or sons) of any age can participate.  There will be three projects to choose from and at least two different sizes of each project quilt.  Lunch and patterns are included.  Fabric is brought by participants, purchased in our store (15% class discount), or a fabric kit can be purchased for the quilt top that you choose to make - (these kits can also be precut in our shop for you prior to the class).

Price of Program includes:
1.  Instruction in a small group for the entire program for every student.
2.  Pattern for the quilt.
3.  Lunch ( we will send out a survey for allergies/etc.)
4.  Water, Flavored carbonated water, tea, and simple snacks available throughout the program.
5.  Special "Mom & Me" Quilted Otter Gift bag.
6.  Photograph of your "Mom & Me" team in a keepsake simple frame.

Age Restrictions and skill levels:  When choosing your pattern for the program check the experience level recommended.  Participants can be of any skill level - Having said that, if your daughter is young (less than 8 years old) the mother should have some quilting experience. All of the patterns in the program are "Accuquilt Friendly" , which means the teams can use the Accuquilt which reduces the need to use a rotary cutter: this helps with dexterity  and safety for quilters of all ages!!

Check back here closer to the event for details on exact materials needed for the course and examples of the quilts to be made.  However, you should bring one or two sewing machines per team (one is fine, two would be faster if both participants are seasoned quilters), If you need to borrow a machine from the store for the program please notify us ahead of time so we can have the machine ready for you.

See below for samples of possible quilts you can make - these all can be made in at least a couple of sizes and they are all Accuquilt friendly (meaning that all or most of the cutting can be done with an Accuquilt - which we have in the store for your use.)

1.  I Spy (beginner friendly)

2.  Matching (or not) Patchwork Totes: beginner friendly

3.  Spring Garden #1: (some experience)

4.  Spring Garden #2: (beginner friendly)

#5 Rail Fence (beginner friendly)

6.  Underwater Zoo (some experience by at least one quilter needed)

In general the supplies for the class will included:

Sewing machine and associated parts, equipment, and notions.  Please bring your user manual if you are an inexperienced quilter and you know where it is!).  You will also be either bringing or purchasing fabric (from a supply list that you will have well ahead of time) and basic sewing supplies (which we will send on the list) Keep in mind that our studio is outfitted with several irons, two ironing boards, misc. rulers and rotary cutters, misc. thread that you are welcome to use if you need it, scissors, pins, etc. - however, most participants prefer to bring their own - just wanted to let you knw those items are available.
